Kelly D. Green, M.A
School Counselor
Morton Elementary
I am very excited to be your Morton School Counselor for the 2017/2018 school year. A little about myself so that you can better get to know who I am and what I may have to offer/assist in making this school year great. I believe collaboration and team work makes a successful school. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology/Criminal Justice from Colorado State University-Pueblo. I was a member of the President’s Leadership Program and we emphasized on team building and community involvement. Thus, we are not individuals working apart to educate and teach our children academics alone, but working together to ensure the success of our students in all aspects of life. We are who molds our young generation into who they will become. We all come from different backgrounds, lifestyles, cultures, etc.; however, we are coming together for the same goal which is to teach our students, “Team Morton”.
Who I am: I have grown up in a military family, as my father was a lieutenant commander for the Navy and we have traveled and lived in many different places. I have had to adapt to new environments often in my Elementary years. My parents began foster parenting in my middle school years, which took a lot of adjusting and learning parts of society that I was unaware existed. My parents continued foster care for 11 years and I grew into the person I am today because of the children that lived with us. I am still friends with some of them to this day and love seeing how successful they are because of the influence my family had on them. I became a foster parent myself at the age of 21 and also married the same year. I had 2 children and then divorced years later; however, I work closely with my ex-husband to raise our children. I opened a family owned restaurant/bar in 2005 and did many community fundraisers and benefits in which we gave back to those in need. I have been with my present husband for 6 ½ wonderful years and have 2 more wonderful children, yes that makes 4 children and I am very blessed with my large family. I spent the 4 years at home with my children and at the same time getting my Master’s in School Counseling. I became Morton’s School Counselor July 2016.
I look forward to an amazing year and working with you,
